What is "KamchatKAyaking Club"?
It’s the only one organization in Kamchatka, joining professional kayakers which work together to make your trip to our peninsular really safety and unforgettable.
It’s all-the-year-round School of Kayaking, collaboration with world leading producers of see and river equipment, exchange of experience with Russian and foreign experts in kayaking, it’s the team of professional guides, continuously working at educating and challenging their selves to higher levels in yearly expeditions at Kamchatka and in other regions. All our instructors have great skills in ethnography, biology, geography, history, ecology. They’ll be happy to share their knowledge with you!

We are dedicated to providing the best adventures possible using high quality equipment, precise planning and pre-trip logistics research and most importantly, by providing knowledgeable, mature, professional sea and river kayak guides that take a keen interest in your safety and enjoyment!

Kayaking at Kamchatka is an exotic of extreme

Kamchatka, rich by its natural treasures, is magnetic and exotic. The unique combination of majestic landscapes, wild nature and wealthy history makes this region the promised land for travelers from all over the world. To the very amateurs of adventure, extreme and ecotourism we propose enjoying the beauty of Kamchatka views in a unique kayak trip at Kamchatka.
Realization of non-profit-making trips to unknown routes allowed us to research more than 50 water objects of Kamchatka paying meticulous attention to details. Today we are happy to offer You a great variety of routes to the Pacific ocean, mountain rivers and the crater lakes of the active volcanoes of Kamchatka. "KamchatKAyaking Club" strives to explore the most interesting, and often less known, areas of the destinations we offer making your trip as unique as possible. Our programs include the sea kayaking, the sight-seeing, different excursions and contact with local culture, customs. We have programs for all levels of skills!
Our aim is finding individual approach to each person, to organize his stay in accordance with his needs and wishes. Therefore, besides the proposal of standard programs, we are always ready to elaborate an individual trip for you.

Mission of “KamchatKAyaking Club”

The members of “KamchatKAyaking Club” are brought together not only by sports interests, but also by their love to Kamchatka, its unique and very vulnerable nature, by their aspirations to live in harmony with environment. That’s why all our trips are carried out with observance of the principles and standards of Ecotourism*, the development of whish is one of the main purposes of our Organization.
* Ecotourism is purposeful travel to natural areas to understand the culture and natural history of the environment, taking are not to alter the integrity of the ecosystem, while producing opportunities that make the conservation of natural resources beneficial to local people (Ecotourism Society, 1994).
The principles of Ecotourism:

  • Strive to work in an environmentally sustainable manner.
  • Actively participate in conservation.
  • Stimulate joy, knowledge, and respect for local culture and nature.

The philosophy of Ecotourism is reflected in the Mission of our Organization:

We work for development of ecotourism in Kamchatka (and in particular its new kind for our region - traveling on kayaks**), conserving primeval beauty, originality of the region and its natural resources.
** Kayaking is a kind of sports and tourism, which is carried out for deeper understanding of the local lore, culture and environment and, when is organized in the proper way, doesn’t disturb the integrity of the ecosystem (KamchatKAyaking Club, 2006).

How we follow the principles of Ecotourism

In support of our following the principles of Ecotourism the regional non-governmental organization “The Kamchatka Ecotourism Society” published the information about our trips in the work “Best Practices in Kamchatka Ecotourism”, where examples of excellence in Kamchatka tourism based on the above principles are gathered.

The main tools of realization of the principles of Ecotourism by “KamchatKAyaking Club” are listed below.

  • Respect local traditions and avoid negative impacts on nature and culture.
1. Informing about rules of behavior in visited area.
2. Getting a permit for visiting some areas from the following institutions:
- administrations of protected areas (if visited area is protected);
- Federal Security Service and Frontier Guard Service of Kamchatka Region (for territories, visiting of which is regulated by the law “About State Frontier of the Russian Federation”).
3. Observance of rules of behavior in protected areas.
4. Forming tourist groups taking into account of recreational loads on the territory and the principles of psycho-emotional comfort (we work with small groups with the number of participants no more than 7 people).
5. Keeping watch for animals at a distance, not disturbing them and safety for people (no less than 100 ì).
6. Minimization of noise and visual pollution – limited, delicate use of tape-recorders, radios, musical instruments, flash bulbs, flare pots.
7. Finding optimal place for camp for the purpose of minimization of man’s impact on natural complexes:
- camping on the least environmentally vulnerable terrain (prevention of degradation of phytocenosis);
- camping taking into account of the principles of psycho-emotional comfort (minimization of visual pollution of natural landscapes);
- assigning territories for toilet and washing at a distance of not less than 70 cm away from the bank of river or lake.
8. Minimization of negative impact on culture – explanation of ethics of behavior with local residents (photographing, purchasing, tipping, meeting beggars, etc.).

  • Support local economy.
1. Using in our trips home-produced foodstuff (vegetables, dairy produce, meat and fish) and service of local providers (transport, guides, hotels).
2. Motiving tourists’ buying home-produced goods and national souvenirs of the indigenous of Kamchatka (telling about culture and traditions of the natives of Kamchatka, who in the old days used kayaks for hunting sea animals and fishing).

  • Strive to work in an environmentally sustainable manner.
1. Using in our trips certified and ecologically clean production production and equipment.
2. Using for transportation environmentally friendly carriers – expedition sailing catamaran and sea kayaks.
3. Limited using of packing and renunciation of nonrecoverable production in an effort to save resources and to reduce the volume of waste.
4. Removing waste from the route.
5. Using driftwood as firewood.
6. Observing the principles of resource economy in the process of carrying out the trip.
7. Using recycled paper for printing our promotional and informational materials.
8. Performing self-control and regular estimation of environmental impact of our activities.
9. Co-ordination routes and time of our trips with administrations of protected areas for uniform distribution of recreational loads.
10. Collaboration with State institutions for using received by “KKClub” results of research work (see below) in the process of planning of development of Ecotourism in our region.

  • Actively participate in conservation.
1. Observance of environmental regulations.
2. Informing tourists and guests of the region about possible ways of helping local conservancies.
3. Collaboration with conservancies and administrations of protected areas in following directions:
- monitoring a status of natural complexes;
- practical help in coast cleansing;
- carrying out commissions of administrations of protected areas;
- helping in control of observance of environmental regulations.
4. Supporting nature-conservative and scientific programs and projects:
- helping research workers in transportation to the matters of investigations;
- data collection for workers of nature-conservative and scientific organizations;
- independent research of permissible recreational loads.
5. Revelation of infringements of environmental regulations and notification controlling units about these facts.

  • Stimulate joy, knowledge, and respect for local culture and nature.
1. Informing tourists before their trip about region, route of travel, equipment, rules of behavior and about available literature devoted to Kamchatka.
2. Informing tourists during the trip about protected areas, objects of world heritage, species of plants and animals, brought to the World, Russian and Regional Red Books, etc.
3. Giving instructions in safety measures, including the information about trip peculiarities, rules of behavior in nature, accident prevention, rules of giving first aid, tourist formalities, etc.
4. Wide use of local cookery (national Russian cookery and dishes of the natives of Kamchatka) and teaching tourists in local modes of cooking.
5. Popularization of respectful attitude to local cultural wealth and history of the region.
6. Popularization of ecological orientation of our trips, telling in our trips about such subjects as:
- history of men’s attitude to environment, landscapes, historical forms of nature management;
- the dynamics of landscape and its probable future, fated in many respects by present nature management;
- the reasons of biological diversity, ecological functions of ecosystem’s components;
- ways of influence on development of landscapes, the possibility of personal participation, ecological rules of behavior;
- types of protected areas and their importance;
- the principles of Ecotourism and its role in the process of ecologization of economics and ideology;
- ecological problems of the territory, reasons and possible ways of solving.
7. Providing tourists with traveler library (basic materials about the route, plants and animals qualifiers, etc.) during all the route.

  • Quality and safety throughout all of our tours.
1. Providing safety during traveling in nature:
- informing about rules of behavior in nature (see above);
- providing with portable radio set, saving equipment, means for scaring away of bears, the first-aid set and other necessary equipment.
2. Providing tourists with experienced and erudite guides (1 guide for 3 tourists), having great skills in ethnography, biology, geography, history, ecology and taking yearly courses in accident prevention and rules of giving first aid, organized by the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations.
3. Observing the principle of succession in gaining experience in kayak trips – giving permission for taking part in our trips only to tourists, who have passed special training programs.
4. Organization of training in swimming pool for psychological adaptation to travel conditions and for showing some theses of safety measures.
5. Collaboration with the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations for providing safety of tourists during the trip:
- registration of the route;
- receiving information about weather;
- in the case of long and difficult expeditions or at tourists’ will – organization joint training in safety measures.
6. Strong requirement to have sports insurance for all the period of traveling.
7. Having the Plan of Safety, coordinated with the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations.
8. Questionnairing tourists for the purpose of discovering problems with health (filling Medical Form), peculiarities in food desires (intolerance of some components of menu, keeping the fast, vegetarianism).
9. Questionnairing tourists after the trip for the purpose of discovering remarks and suggestions.

This is up to you to decide how you will start your acquaintance with the exotics of Extreme: one week sea-expedition among reserved islands or two-hour trip in a picturesque crater lake; crazy surfing on ocean waves or unhurried trip down lowland rivers… The main is – you have to like adventures, know to be happy with beauty of Nature, appreciate new sensations and meeting new people.
